Ex-finance secretary Zakir Ahmed appointed as PKSF chairman

Former finance secretary Zakir Ahmed Khan has been appointed as the chairman of the Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF), the leading microcredit funding agency in Bangladesh.
Financial Institutions Division on Wednesday issued a notification to this effect saying that Zakir Ahmed has been appointed as the chairman for a three-year term, starting from the date he assumes the role.
Zakir Ahmed did his MA in Economics from the University of Dhaka and MBA from Vrije University, Brussels, Belgium. He also studied Development Economics and Development Administration at the Colorado State University as a Hubert Humphrey Fellow.
Before joining the Pakistan Audit and Accounts Service in 1970, he served briefly as a Research Associate in the Bureau of Economic Research and as a lecturer in Economics at Dhaka University (DU). He also served as a part-time lecturer in the Department of Finance.
Zakir retired in February 2009 from the World Bank as alternate executive director representing Bangladesh, Bhutan, India and Srilanka. He served as finance secretary, Internal Resources Division secretary and National Board of Revenue chairman for about five years.
