Police have detained Amjad Hossain Khan, former additional secretary of Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives, and his son Asif Hasan, reports bdnews24.com.
The two were detained in a raid on a home in the capital's Uttara Sector 13 late on Sunday night, according to Hafizur Rahman, officer-in-charge of Uttara West Police Station.
"A four-hour joint forces operation at the scene seized Tk 10.95 million in cash, some foreign currency, 11 iPhones and some expensive watches from different brands," he said.
Amjad was appointed as the additional secretary to the Ministry of Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives in 2020 and subsequently retired. He hails from Gazipur's Sadar upazila.
