Factory sealed off for producing poultry feed using tannery waste

A Rapid Action Battalion (Rab) mobile court sealed off a poultry feed factory at Hazaribagh Beribadh in the city Friday on charge of producing the fodder using poisonous tannery waste, reports UNB.
Two of the factory employees were also punished in this connection. A team of Rab-2, led by its deputy director Dr Md Didarul Alam, conducted a drive at 'Hypo Feed Factory' at 42/8/Ka Sonatangar of Hazaribagh Beribadh at about 11:30am.
During the drive, it was found that poultry feed was being produced at the factory using tannery waste which is harmful to human health.
Later, the Rab team detained two employees-Saiful Islam (24) and Md Jamal Miah.
During interrogation, Saiful revealed that although factory owner Khalil who is suffering from cancer instructed them not to use poisonous tannery waste for producing the fodder, they had long been using those defying his order.
Executive Magistrate of Rab headquarters AHM Anwar Pasha sentenced
Saiful to two years' simple imprisonment and fined him Tk 0.2 million fine, in default, to suffer three more months in jail.
Meanwhile, Jamal was fined Tk 0.2 million, in default, to suffer three more months in jail.
