Fake freedom fighters to be punished

Bir Protik Faruk E Azam, the advisor to the liberation war affairs and disaster management ministries, says any fake freedom fighters identified will be punished for 'deceiving' the state.
He made the remarks during a press briefing on Friday at the Chattogram Circuit House regarding the city's law and order situation, reports bdnews24.com.
"Scrutinising the list of freedom fighters, we can see the reality of what happened. They have become freedom fighters in many forms and ways," said Faruk.
"We will examine these issues and those who are genuine freedom fighters will remain on the list. The fakes will be dropped. Many of them should be punished for deceiving the state."
The advisor also added that the Liberation War has become a major issue, both nationally and internationally, around the quota reform movement. "I have asked the ministry to look into the reality of the situation."
"We will disclose the number of freedom fighters' children who have been employed through the quota system, the actual number of freedom fighters in the country and their identities."
Faruk, who was in Chattogram on a three-day visit, also went to the Kotwali Police Station after the meeting.
He spoke to the policemen at the station and examined the burnt rooms at the police station.
