Fakhrul meets Peter Haas

Bangladesh Nationalist Party (BNP) secretary-general Mirza Fakhrul Islam Alamgir met US Ambassador in Dhaka Peter D Haas on Thursday.

The meeting took place at the American Club in the capital's Gulshan area around 1:15 pm. It lasted almost an hour.

US Embassy's political and economic vice-counsellor Arturo Hines was present during the parley, according to BNP sources.

In another development, the BNP will hold a press briefing at 10:00 am today (Friday) at the party's chairperson Gulshan office.

Mr Fakhrul will be present at the briefing to focus on the present political climate of the country and opponents' views regarding the upcoming elections.
