Faulty construction, rain pose risk of collapse for 2 buildings

Two residential buildings of Purana Paltan Lane are faced with risk of collapse following the spell of rain brought on by the nor'wester Monday, reports UNB.Local people alleged that Tropical Homes, a leading real estate company, has been constructing a multi-storied building at 73, Purana Paltan Lane without taking necessary safety measures.  As they did not take appropriate safety measures when digging the soil of the plot for basement, around 80-100 feet road in front of the project cracked.

To make matters worse, some portion of the road collapsed into the filling land on Monday morning due to heavy rain fall.  Though residents of a 6-storey building (53 Purana Paltan Lane) in front of the project informed the construction site officers of the dangers being posed, they did not take it seriously, said Mojaffar Ahmed, a tenant of the building.
