FBCCI welcomes govt's decision to waive port demurrage charges

The Federation of Bangladesh Chambers of Commerce and Industry (FBCCI) on Wednesday welcomed the government's decision to exempt port demurrage charges for seven days on export and import goods.

Earlier, the apex trade body requested this exemption as the recent countrywide anti-quota protests had severely hampered shipment activities at Chattogram Port.

In response to FBCCI's request, the Ministry of Shipping issued a circular on Wednesday exempting store rent or demurrage charges on shipment goods to facilitate external shipments.
