A fire that broke out at the 230/132 KV sub-station in the city's Rampura area on Saturday afternoon came under control after one hour of hectic efforts.

The blaze originated from an explosion in a transformer inside the power sub-station under the Dhaka Power Distribution Company (DPDC), an official told the FE.

The fire was put under control at around 4:45 pm, said Russel Shikder, duty officer at the central control room of Bangladesh Fire Service & Civil Defence.

Locals told the FE that several transformers also burst following the explosion inside the power sub-station.
