Fire breaks out at CEPZ\\\'s courier services zone

Fire-fighting operation underway after a fire broke out at Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) on Tuesday. It gutted consignments of five international courier services. — bdnews24.com

CHITTAGONG, Mar 17 (UNB): A fire at the courier services zone of Chittagong Export Processing Zone (CEPZ) gutted valuables of five international courier services Tuesday.

Divisional assistant director of Chittagong Fire Service Yeahia Akter said the fire broke out around 11:45 am and it spread around soon.

On information, 11 fire-fighting units rushed in and brought the blaze under control after one and a half hours of frantic efforts.

Abul Mansur, officer-in-charge of EPZ police Station, said the fire damaged valuables of courier services -- Aeromax, UPS, FedEx, DHL and TNT.

Besides, the dormitory of BEPZA was also damaged by the fire, they said.

However, no one was injured in the fire incident.

The extent of damage caused by the fire could not yet be ascertained.
