Fire breaks out at Gazipur factory

A fire broke out Saturday at a garment factory at Konabari in Gazipur.

The fire originated on the first floor of Kader Synthetic Fibres Limited around 8:05 am.

Fourteen fire fighting units from Savar EPZ, Joydevpur, Tongi, Tejgaon and Kaliakoir rushed to the spot and controlled the flame after six hours of hectic efforts.

"We brought the blaze under control at 1:45 pm on the day. The cause behind the fire could be known after investigation," duty officer of fire service control room Bajan Kumar Sarkar told the FE.    

He said the fire fighting units were working till the evening on the day.

When asked about the loss caused by the fire, he said, "We would be able to assess it after wrapping up our operation."
