Fire guts raw materials, machinery at Sitakunda RMG factory

CHATTOGRAM, May 29: A huge quantity of clothes, cotton, fabrics and machinery of a garment factory was reduced to ashes in a devastating fire at Sitakunda of the district today.

The fire fighters from different fire service stations in Chattogram brought the fire under control.

The fire incident occurred at the Knitting Unit of the BG Garments in between Chhota Kumira and Bansbaria under Sitakunda police station at around 11.00 am.

Nine fire fighting vehicles from different stations rushed to the scene to douse the fire.

The extent of the damage caused to the readymade garments (RMG) factory is yet to be ascertained.

A probe committee is expected to be constituted soon in this regard.
