The government has installed BNP leaders as administrators in Barishal, Rajshahi, Mymensingh, Rangpur and Cumilla, following similar appointments in six other city corporations, reports bdnews24.com.
The appointments were announced in a local government ministry notification issued on Saturday.
It said the administrators will remain in charge until the corporations are constituted or until further orders.
Bilkis Akhtar Jahan Shirin has been appointed administrator of Barishal City Corporation. She is the BNP's organising secretary for Barishal Division.
Rajshahi Metropolitan BNP General Secretary Mahfuzur Rahman has been made administrator of Rajshahi City Corporation.
In Mymensingh, the post has gone to Rukonuzzaman Rokon, member secretary of BNP's south district unit.
Rangpur City Corporation's administrator is Mahfuz Un Nabi Chowdhury, member secretary of Rangpur metropolitan BNP.
In Cumilla, the government has appointed Yusuf Molla, general secretary of the BNP's metropolitan unit, as administrator of the city corporation.
