The 74th day of the ongoing nationwide blockade, enforced by the BNP-led 20-party alliance, passed off almost peacefully on Friday barring few stray incidents.
At least five people suffered burn injuries as blockaders allegedly hurled petrol bomb at a fish-laden truck on Feni-Noakhali highway on the day.
The incident took place about 5:00 am when a group of pro-blockade activists threw the petrol bomb at the truck in Matubhua area, leaving five people, including truck driver, wounded.
On information, police rushed to the spot and rescued the burn victims before sending them to adjacent hospitals and clinics for treatment.
"Two of the wounded persons were later sent to Comilla Medical College Hospital for better treatment as their conditions have deteriorated," an officer of Daganbhuiyan Police Station said.
He said the truck came under the arson attack while it was carrying fishes from Burichang upazila of Comilla to Companiganj of Noakhali.
Meanwhile, incidents of arrests on allegation of firebombing and assisting troublemakers were reported in districts like Comilla, Noakhali, Satkhira, Laxmipur, Rangpur and Bagerhat.
