Thick fog Friday disrupted ferry operations as it did in the past few days on the Paturia-Doulatdia and Mawa-Kawrakandi routes, reports bdnews24.com.
Several ferries also remained stranded in the middle of the waterway, officials said.
The Madaripur correspondent of the news agency said ferry crossing remained suspended on the Mawa-Kawrakandi route for around 10 hours.
The Manikganj correspondent said no ferry ran on the Paturia-Doulatdia route for about five hours.
Kawrakandi ferry terminal duty officer and Bangladesh Inland Water Transport Corporation (BIWTC) official Ruhul Amin told the news agency ferry crossing resumed at 10 am after a halt since Thursday midnight.
The 10-hour stoppage caused long tailbacks on both the Kawrakandi and Mawa roads, he said.
The Chandpur correspondent quoting BIWTC's Chandpur officials said at least 20 Dhaka-bound ferries were halted in the middle of the river Meghna early Friday.
However, BIWTC Mawa Terminal Manager Md Sirajul Islam told the Munshiganj correspondent of the news agency that ferry service resumed in the morning.
UNB from Dinajpur adds: The cold wave sweeping the northern region has left the normal life in disarray, killing two people in Dinajpur Thursday night.
The victims were identified as Khitish Chandra Barman (60) of Singra Collegepara village and Panu Chandra Mohanta (65) of Moglishpur village.
At least 47 people, including children and elderly ones, were admitted to Dinajpur Medical College Hospital with pneumonia, meningitis and other cold-related diseases in the last four days.
