Foreign seaman dies in Ctg port accident

CHATTOGRAM, Sept 07: One seaman of an overseas shipping company died in an accident when he fell from a ship by slipping his leg at around 12 noon on Monday at Chattogram sea port.

The victim was identified as Joel D Branda (35), a seaman from the Philippines.

Joel D Branda was working at the MV Talia H ship on Monday noon and suddenly he slipped and had injured his leg severely. The colleagues sent him to Chattogram Medical College Hospital (CMCH), but he died on the way to hospital.

Mohammed Erfan, manager of Renu Shipping Lines Limited, the local agent of the ship confirmed the death of the seaman.

"We will send the body of the victim to his country through the owner of the ship," he said.
