Four missing fishermen rescued

COX'S BAZAR, Jan 2 (UNB): Four fishermen were rescued on Friday afternoon.
They went missing as a fishing trawler capsized in the estuary near the St Martin's Island after being hit by a tourist vessel on Friday afternoon.
Owner of the fishing trawler, M Hossain, a resident of Mestri Para in the Shahpurir Island in the estuary, said he had heard from witnesses that the trawler had sunk as the Teknaf-bound tourist vessel, 'Keari Sindabad', from the St Martin's Island had hit it around 3:30pm, leaving four fishermen of the trawler missing.
The in-charge of the tourist vessel, Shah Alam, could not be contacted despite repeated attempts on phone.
Officer-in-charge of Taknaf Police Station Ataur Rahman said the police had been informed of the incident and they would take necessary steps in this regard.
However, no rescue operation was launched till filing of this report.
