Four of a family hacked dead

JOYPURHAT, June 20 (UNB): A woman of an indigenous community and three more members of her family were killed and another was injured allegedly by her son-in-law over a family feud at Bhimpur in Panchbibi upazila early Saturday.

The deceased were identified as Sandhya Rani Mardi, 53, her daughter Tereja Mardi, 17, grandson Sunny, 6, and Michel, 51.

 paternal uncle of Tereja.

 while the injured was identified as Shashila Mardi, 25, wife of alleged killer Sumon Himron.

Abu Hena Mostafa Kamal, officer-in-charge of Panchbibi Police Station, said Shashila had an altercation with her husband Sumon over a family feud early on Saturday.

At one stage of altercation, Sumon hit Shashila with a sharp weapon, leaving her critically injured.

Later he also stabbed Sunny, Sandhya, Tereja and Michel indiscriminately as they tried to resist him, leaving them dead on the spot.

Injured Shashila was rushed to Joypurhat Modern Hospital.

On information, police rushed in and arrested Sumon from the spot.
