BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy was arrested early Friday and remanded for three days over the alleged attack on AL MP Chhabi Biswas.
Strongly denouncing the arrest of her party's senior leader, BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia Friday alleged that the government intensified its "repressive acts against opposition men in its last-ditch attempt to cling to power by force".
In a statement, she also said, "The power usurper illegal government’s vengeance has got exposed again through the arrest of BNP standing committee member Gayeshwar Chandra Roy," according to agencies.
