GMG takes delivery of Boeing aircraft

The country's leading private air-carrier, GMG Airlines, is going to launch its newly leased 350-seater Boeing 767-300ER aircraft today (Saturday) unveiling the company's new logo and livery, the company official told the FE.
The GMG Airlines has taken delivery of a wide-bodied aircraft on Friday morning that the airlines acquired on dry-lease basis from a US-based leasing company.
"The aircraft has arrived from China, painted with GMG's new livery and logo on it," GMG's general manager-sales M Munirul Islam told the FE.
"The new aircraft will soon start flying to international destinations, guaranteeing our passengers world-class air service to regional, Middle Eastern and European destinations," he elaborated.
"Our new logo and livery reflects the company's new beginning towards a vibrant airline of the country," Mr Islam said.
The country's leading industrial conglomerate Beximco Group has recently acquired majority stake in GMG Airlines and has invested heavily into the passenger carrier.
"Initially, we are planning to put the wide-bodied aircraft into service on the Middle-eastern routes to cater to the needs of growing number of passengers," executive director of human resource Shoeb-Al-Ashraf earlier explained to the FE.
"With the induction of the new aircraft, we will fly to three new destinations -Jeddah, Riyadh and Doha," he added.
GMG Airlines now operates seven flights per week to the United Arab Emirates, five times to Dubai and twice to Abu Dhabi per week. Two MD-82 and one MD-83 aircraft operates on its international routes.
Beside the UAE, the GMG now flies to six other international destinations- New Delhi, Kolkata, Kuala Lumpur, Kathmandu, Karachi and Bangkok.
GMG Airlines now operates with one Dash-8 aircraft and two Dash-8-Q300 on domestic and regional routes. It connects the capital with four domestic stations- Chittagong, Cox's Bazar, Jessore and Sylhet.
