Gold price jumps further in a week

Gold price increases further within a week as the local jewellers on Wednesday evening decided to increase it by Tk90 per gram.

Bangladesh Jewellers Association (BJA) fixed the price of 22-carat gold per gram at Tk7,060 which was Tk6,970 earlier, a statement said.

The new price will be effective from today (Thursday), the BJA said, adding it adjusted the price as the rate of Tejabi gold increased on the local market.

As per the traditional quantification, per bhori (11.664 grams) 22-carat gold's new price is Tk8,2348, a hike of Tk1,050 from the previous price.

Value of per gram 21-carat yellow metal will be Tk6,740 instead of Tk 6,650 earlier while per gram 18-carat gold will be Tk5,780 rising from Tk5,700.

Per gram traditional gold's value increased by Tk45 to Tk4,775, as per the trade body's decision.

Meanwhile, 22-, 21-, and 18-carat silver price remained static at Tk130, Tk 123 and Tk 105 respectively. Earlier, the price was revised upward on July 29.
