Gold price revised downwards again

Gold price has been revised downwards for the fourth time within five days on the back of decrease in the value of pure gold in the country.
In the latest tariff structure set by local jewellers, the price of per gram 22-carat gold decreased to Tk 9,682 from Tk 9,736 two days ago.
According to the latest decision taken by the Bangladesh Jewellers' Association (Bajus) on Saturday afternoon, the new price of per bhori (11.664 grams) of gold has been fixed at Tk 112,931 which is lower by Tk 630 than the previous tariff.
The Bajus in a statement issued to the media said the new rate would come into effect from 4.30pm on Saturday.
Of the other varieties, value of 21- and 18-carat per gram of the precious metal has decreased to Tk 9,242 and Tk 7,922 respectively.
After a major hike on April 6 and a subsequent price fluctuation, value of the metal touched all time high at Tk 119,428 on April 21.
Since then, the price revised downward four times within five days on Tuesday, Wednesday, Thursday in the last week and Yesterday.
Meanwhile, per gram 22-, 21- and 18-carat of silver prices remained unchanged at Tk 180, Tk 172 and Tk 147 respectively.
