Gold prices hit all-time high

Gold price has reached to all-time high in the country as local jewellers on Saturday decided to revise the rates following value of pure gold moving upward.

As per the new tariff, per gram of the highest quality 22-carat of gold will be sold at Tk 9,120 or per bhori (11.664 grams) at Tk 1,06,376.

The new prices of different quality of the yellow metal will be effective from today (Sunday), Bangladesh Jewellers' Association or BJA said in a statement on Saturday.

Earlier, per gram same quality of gold price was fixed at Tk 8,970 or per bhori TK 1,04,626 on November 6.

According to the new pricing, per bhori gold increased by TK 1,750.

Of the other varieties, prices of 21- and 18-carat per gram of the metal increased to Tk 8,705 and Tk 7,460 respectively.

Besides, per gram of traditional (sanatan) gold price also increased to Tk 6,220.

Meanwhile, all variety of silver prices remained static to previous rates.

Per gram 22-, 21 and 18-carat of silver will be sold at Tk 147, Tk 140, and Tk 120 respectively.

The BJA requested all jewellers to abide by the new pricing until it reaches to new decision.

According to sources, five per cent value added tax and ornament making cost will also be added to the metals' prices fixed by the BJA.
