FE Report
The authorities allowed some goods-laden trucks from the countryside to enter into the city Wednesday night after the imposition of curfew to boost the supply of essential commodities in the city markets.
But traders said there is still shortfall in the supply due to disruption of transportation caused by the student unrest and subsequent imposition of curfew.
Traders could not transport their commodities from one part to another of the city because of the situation.
Witnesses said several trucks laden with commodities entered into the city after the authorities lifted the curfew from three hours from 4:0 pm to 7:0 pm Thursday.
Consumers rushed to nearby shops and markets to buy their necessities after the curfew was briefly lifted.
The wholesale and retail traders at the city's Moulvi Bazar, Chak Bazar and Kawran Bazar said they did not open their shops Thursday.
However, the consumers paid higher prices for the commodities under the present circumstances.
