Govt agencies alerted against fake PMO officials

The prime minister's office (PMO) has cautioned different government agencies against the people who pose as PMO officials to serve their personal interests, officials have said.

The PMO recently sent letters to different ministries in this regard.

When contacted, the ministry of commerce confirmed receipt of the letter.

It is learnt that some unscrupulous people are engaged in influencing officials of different agencies to gain personal ends forging the signatures of PMO officials or impersonating themselves as PMO officials over phone.

All concerned have been advised to remain alert in this connection and asked to be sure about the caller's identity and settle the issue as per rule, according to the letter.

If necessary, the PMO office may be contacted to be sure about the identity of the person and the matter, the letter has added.

Officials said now-a- days, some dishonest people are befooling different agencies in the name of PMO which has long been going on.

The PMO has taken the steps after being informed of the matter.
