CHITTAGONG, Mar 3: Commerce Minister Tofail Ahmed said on Tuesday massive development steps had been taken and the Chittagong businesses would not need to wait long for gas as the government was moving ahead fast with the LNG (liquefied natural gas) terminal project.
Regarding the conflict between the local people and the Korean EPZ, he said the government would not take any step regarding the Korean EPZ as that might tarnish the image of the country as a destination for investment.
But the government would look into the problems of the local people who lost their paternal properties during acquisition of land for the Korean EPZ.
He made the comments while inaugurating the month-long Chittagong International Trade Fair (CITF). The trade fair kicked off on Tuesday at the port city's Polo Ground.
