Govt to procure refined palm oil, anti-TB drugs

The Cabinet Committee on Government Purchase on Tuesday approved procurement of 20 million litters of refined palm olein oil and anti-tuberculosis (TB) drugs.
The approval was given at a meeting held at Bangladesh Secretariat with Finance  Minister Amir Khosru Mahmud Chowdhury in the chair.
The edible oil will be purchased for the state-run Trading Corporation of Bangladesh (TCB) in 2-litre PET bottles through the local open tender method to sell among the poor people at subsidised rates.
Two companies namely--Sonargaon Seeds Crushing Mills Limited and Shabnam Vegetable Oil Industries Limited--will supply 10 million litters of palm olein oil each, which will cost the exchequer Tk 3.689 billion.
The meeting also approved a proposal for procurement of 100.698 million units of Anti-TB Drug (2FDC) through open tender method.
M/S Renata PLC, Dhaka will supply the medicines at a total cost of Tk 743.5 million.
Also, the meeting approved a proposal for construction of residential buildings of Customs House, Chattogram. M Jamal & Company Limited has been awarded the task at a cost of Tk 1.024 billion.
The purchase body gave its nod to a proposal for setting up of a buffer godown for fertiliser preservation in Rangpur with a storage capacity of 20,000 tonnes at a cost of Tk 592 million.
