Govt to upgrade 50-bed hospitals to 100 beds, expand dialysis units: Sakhawat

NARSINGDI, July 03 (BSS): Health and Family Welfare Minister Sardar Sakhawat Husain has said that all 50-bed hospitals in the country would be upgraded to 100-bed within the next six months.
He also announced that 10-bed kidney dialysis units would be established in all upazila hospitals across the country to ensure treatment for kidney patients at local level, so that they no longer need to travel to Dhaka for care.
The minister made the remarks while speaking as the chief guest at a programme held at the Monohardi Upazila Parishad premises, where seeds, lemon saplings and fertilizers were distributed among farmers.
He said the government was working to ensure overall welfare alongside healthcare services for the people.
He added that coordinated development activities are being implemented across various sectors related to public needs.
The minister also said assistance programmes, including sewing machines and wheelchairs will continue to be provided.
The programme was presided over by Upazila Nirbahi Officer M A Muhaimin Al Jihan.
District unit BNP Vice President Sardar Tozammel Hossain Liakat, Monohardi Upazila unit BNP Member Secretary Aminur Rahman Dolon and government officials were present.
After the programme, the Health Minister distributed financial assistance, corrugated iron sheets and dry food among distressed and needy people as part of humanitarian support at the Upazila auditorium.
