Graft in selection of target people for SSNP under scrutiny: Adviser

Social Welfare Adviser Sharmeen Murshid on Tuesday said the interim government is inspecting the alleged corruptions in the target people selection process for social safety-net programmes (SSNP) by the ousted Sheikh Hasina government.

"We are evaluating and auditing the selection process of the target people for SSNP selection process during the last ousted government following the widespread allegation of corruptions," she said after a World Bank workshop in the city.

"The white paper committee has said that there were pilferage in the SSNP as 40-50 per cent targeting was not correct. The UNICEF has also showed that it has some 46 per cent loopholes in targeting the beneficiaries," she said.

She was talking to journalists after a speaking as the chief guest at a workshop on 'The future of Social Protection in Bangladesh: Taking Stock of Key Innovations', organised by the World Bank in the city on Tuesday.
