Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau phoned Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Monday morning and they underscored the need for initiating a global movement against terrorism, urging the international community to act together to uproot terrorism, reports UNB.

"The Canadian Prime Minister strongly denounced the terrorist attacks on two Christchurch mosques in New Zealand," PM's Press Secretary Ihsanul Karim said.

During the nearly 20-minute conversation, he said, the Canadian Prime Minister heaved a sigh of relief that members of Bangladesh cricket team were safe. The Press secretary said the Canadian Prime Minister expressed concern over the safety of Bangladesh national cricket team as they narrowly escaped Friday's brutal attacks that left 50 people, including five Bangladeshis, dead and scores of others injured.
