HC bench’s midnight rule restores rights of two children

A High Court bench sat in a midnight session on Saturday for passing order over the rights of two children.

Following the High Court order, two grandchildren of former attorney general KS Nabi have returned their ancestral home.

Dhanmondi police officials reached them over following the verbal ruling passed by the High Court bench of Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman and Justice Md Zakir Hossain.

Officer in charge of Dhanmondi Police Station Md Ekram Ali Miah said, "After the death of KS Nabi, family crisis started in the family about the property. On October 02, KS Nabi's eldest son Rehan Nabi did not allow his younger brother Siratun Nabi's children to enter their house in Dhanmondi. Siratun Nabi, 44, died on August 10 this year."

He also said, "The High Court bench headed by Justice Abu Taher Md Saifur Rahman passed verbal ruling over the issue on Saturday midnight. Then the police took KS Nabi's two grandchildren and their mother home at night. Police are monitoring their security."

"Siratun Nabi had divorced his wife. She had two children with her for a long time. After the death of Siratun Nabi his two children came to their paternal house, but they were not willing to live without their mother. The family was having crisis about it," added the police official.

A lawyer in a talk-show on Ekattor TV on Saturday night highlighted the issue that the two grandsons of former attorney general were denied entry to their home by their uncle.
