HC grants anticipatory bail to two accused

The High Court (HC) Monday granted anticipatory bail to two accused in two separate cases filed following the devastating Rana Plaza disaster.
They are New Wave Bottoms Ltd chairman Bazlus Samad and managing director Mahmudur Rahman.
A bench of the HC comprising Justice Naima Haider and Justice Zafar Ahmed granted the bail.
Advocate Yusuf Hossain Humayun and SM Rezaul Karim appeared for the accused persons in the court while deputy attorney general (DAG) Khandker Diliruzzaman represented the government.
Meanwhile, a separate HC bench disposed of an Anti-Corruption Commission (ACC)'s petition that was filed against the bail, which was granted by the lower court to Hall-Mark Group Chairperson Jasmine Islam.
The lower court granted her bail in separate cases on condition that she would pay back the loan in monthly installments of Tk 1.0 billion.
