Several hundred protesters under the banner of development workers vandalised the head office of the Insurance Development and Regulatory Authority (IDRA) on Tuesday.
They confined at least 80 employees belonging to the IDRA until the filing of this report at 9:00 pm.
The demonstrators were out to register their protest around 1:00 pm.
One IDRA employee told the FE that the workers were demonstrating under the direct influence and instigation of Sonali Life Insurance.
The main gate and reception desks of the IDRA were vandalised in the evening.
The FE visited the IDRA to confirm the incident of vandalism.
The employees are demanding the withdrawal of an administrator appointed at Sonali Life Insurance along with the resignation of IDRA chairman Mohammad Jainul Bari.
