Starting on October 1, the Bangladesh Health Assistant Association has announced a suspension in administering life-saving vaccination to children nationwide to press home its six-point demand.
On Sunday, it said vaccination would be halted at 120,000 outreach EPI centres across the country until the demands were met.
The suspension of the upcoming typhoid vaccine campaign for an indefinite period would start on October 12, it also said.
The association announced the suspension by submitting a memorandum to the director general of the Mohakhali Health Department, according to a press statement.
In the memorandum, it mentioned that health assistants have been administering vaccinations at the grassroots level as a preventive measure to protect children from 10 deadly diseases since birth.
