Hero Alom gets bail in attempted murder case filed by ex-wife

FE REPORT | November 16, 2025 00:00:00

A Dhaka court on Saturday granted bail to content creator Ashraful Alom, popularly known as Hero Alom, in a case filed by his former wife Riya Moni.

Earlier in the day, police arrested the controversial content creator from the capital's Hatirjheel area in the case filed by Riya Moni  over attempted murder, assault, and issuing threats.

Hatirjheel Police Station officer-in-charge (OC) Mohammad Raju said police arrested content creator Ashraful Alom after the Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court had issued an arrest warrant against him on Wednesday (November 12).

The OC said Hero Alom was nabbed around 12:30pm on Saturday following an arrest warrant issued by the court.

Police sources said the case against Hero Alom includes allegations of attempted murder, assault, and issuing threats.

On Wednesday, Dhaka Chief Metropolitan Magistrate Wahiduzzaman had issued the arrest warrant after Hero Alom reportedly failed to appear before the court.

Riya Moni accused Hero Alom of attempted murder, assault, criminal intimidation, and bringing along his sidekick, Ahsan Habib Selim, who also now has a warrant dangling over his head.

According to her, the couple's rocky relationship did not just hit a rough patch- it fell off a cliff.

The rift got so bad that Hero Alom allegedly divorced her and threw her out of the house.

Riya claimed that she was invited to a "settlement meeting" with Hero Alom's family at a house under Hatirjheel police station.

When she arrived, around 10 to 12 men allegedly teamed up with Hero Alom, hurled filthy abuses at her and her family, and the situation spiraled faster than one of Hero Alom's TikTok transitions. But the chaos did not stop there.

The complaint states that Hero Alom and his crew later stormed into her residence - yes, literally barged into her house - and beat her on the head and body with wooden sticks. She sustained injuries, which she documented in the case filed on June 23.

Riya also reported that her 1.5 bhori gold chain was snatched during the assault.

Plaintiff's lawyer Ziaur Rahman Chowdhury said both accused violated their bail conditions by not showing up in court properly- an offence the judge did not take lightly.

Their bail was cancelled, and warrants were issued. So, when police nabbed Hero Alam on Saturday, it wasn't a surprise - it was an episode everyone saw coming. He was produced before the court.
