High-powered body formed to review investigation progress

The government has formed a six member committee, headed by Law Adviser Dr Asif Nazrul, to review the reserve heist of Bangladesh Bank in 2016.
Other members of the committee are: Power and Energy Adviser Muhammad Fouzul Kabir Khan, Chief Adviser's Special Assistant for the Ministry of Post, Telecommunications and Information Technology Faiz Ahmed Tayyab, Bangladesh Bank Governor Ahsan H Mansur, Biman Bangladesh Airlines Director Ali Ashfaq, and Rupali Bank PLC Chairman Nazrul Huda.
A gazette, signed by Additional Secretary of the Cabinet Division Mohammad Khaled Rahim, was published on Wednesday.
The committee would assess the progress of investigation on the reserve theft, review government actions, identify those responsible for the incident and make them accountable, and provide recommendations to prevent such incidents, according to the gazette.
It is expected to submit findings within three months of the notification.
The Financial Institutions Division of the government will provide secretarial support to the committee.
In February 2016, hackers stole a huge amount of money from the Bangladesh Bank's accounts.
Zobayer Bin Huda, Deputy Director of Accounts and Budgeting at the Bangladesh Bank, filed a case with Motijheel Police Station on March 15, 39 days after the incident.
