Several hundred outbound passengers remained stranded at the Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport on Saturday following a technical glitch.
As a result the passengers, who reached the airport after struggling with various odd situations amid the prevailing curfew and violent protest, had to face immense sufferings and uncertainties throughout the day.
Some domestic and international flights took off, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Faruk Khan told the media.
He also said returnee migrants could stay in Hajj Camp and Probashi Kalyan Rest House.
According to sources, around five thousand international flights had been cancelled across the globe due to some technical glitches in the international air transport system.
The situation worsened for passengers in Bangladesh as internet blackout and different restrictions disrupted airport management.
One Gazi Ashraful Islam was bound to fly to Greece by a flight of Saudi Arabian Airlines at 5.00pm. However it was cancelled.
"The airlines authority called me this (Saturday) afternoon to inform me of the development," said Mr Islam who was supposed to fly in Europe via a connecting flight in Dubai. "Like me, many fellow migrant workers are now in serious trouble as there are deadlines to enter their respective destinations as per visa," he said.
However, people whose flights have not been cancelled they can reach airport showing their air tickets as proof to travel amid ongoing curfew.
