Inspector General of Police (IGP) Noor Mohammad Thursday hoped that the caretaker government would take quick step to give the police an envisaged pay rise, reports UNB.
Talking to UNB and television channels at Rajarbagh Police Lines, he said the Chief of the Army Staff also suggested the pay-hike for the police and hoped that the proposals concerning their salary and allowances, already submitted, would be considered by the government.
Army chief Moeen U Ahmed at a seminar here Wednesday presented a 7-point proposal that envisages reorganisation of the police and increasing their salary as a step to fight out corruption.
IGP Noor said one of their proposals is on a 25 per cent financial incentive for the police force while 50 per cent of total fines realised for violating traffic rules should be given to the traffic cops.
In support of the proposal, the IGP said the police personnel work 12 to 16 hours while the traffic police are to work hard under scorching sun and inclement weather, which cause them to suffer various complicated diseases, including jaundice and respiratory problem.
The police chief said, "If the police personnel and traffic policemen are given special incentives, they will be able to do their work more efficiently."
