Indian minister for comprehensive trade partnership

Visiting Indian commerce minister Suresh Prabhu on Tuesday said, Bangladesh and India need to forge a comprehensive trade partnership to create a win win situation for both the countries.

He was addressing a discussion on 'Bangladesh - India trade relations' held in the city.

Commerce minister Tofail Ahmed was also present in the meeting.

He stressed the need for identifying the common interest of both the countries and explore the areas for ensuring economic development of the two neighbouring countries.

Lauding Bangladesh's achievement in social and economic sector, he said' "...the progress is very unique."

Tofail Ahmed said though there is a huge trade gap between the two countries, one has to admit that number of our exportable items is limited.

He said that he would discuss the issue of reducing the gap during his meeting with his counterpart.

He also said the Indo- Bangladesh relation is now at its peak. "We have resolved almost all our disputed issues," he added.
