Intellectual corruption taking place in some cases

Says Appellate Division judge

Justice Md Nuruzzaman, a judge of the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court (SC), in a speech given on his last working day on Thursday, said that intellectual corruption is taking place in some lawsuits.

He gave the speech at the farewell given by the Attorney General's Office and the Supreme Court Bar Association (SCBA).

Attorney General AM Amin Uddin and Supreme Court Bar Association President Momtazuddin Fakir also gave speech in the farewell programme at the Appellate Division courtroom.

Justice Nuruzzaman was born on July 1 in 1956. He will be 67 on June 30 this year, the age of retirement of a SC judge. However, June 15 was his last working day in the SC.

He enrolled as an Advocate of the District Court on September 4 in 1983 and in the High Court Division of the Supreme Court on January 7, 1987.

He took oath as the Additional Judge of the High Court Division on June 30, 2009 and was appointed as a Judge of the same Division on June 6, 2011. He was elevated to the Appellate Division of the Supreme Court of Bangladesh on October 9, in 2018.

He participated in the Liberation War of Bangladesh in 1971 as a freedom fighter and liberated many places of the then Sunamganj, Netrokona and Kishoregonj Sub Division from the occupation of the Pakistan army.
