Interns at Dhaka Medical College Hospital went on a strike Saturday night protesting the attack on a fellow that disrupted services of the hospital seriously, reports UNB.
Medical services at the hospital remained suspended for several hours as the interns went on the wildcat strike at 12 am protesting the assault on Mominul Islam, 28, an honorary doctor of surgery department of the DMCH.
Although emergency services resumed within an hour around 1 am the other services, including outdoor service, did not resume till Sunday morning, causing sufferings to the patients.
As the interns did not join the work Sunday morning, the hospital authorities kept the emergency services operational with the help of doctors.
Some miscreants attacked Mominul and beat him up with sticks indiscriminately after he identified himself as a DMCH doctor, leaving him injured at Chankharpool in the city Saturday night.
