JCC meets in Delhi today

Indian Prime Minister Narendra Modi called on Friday for greater cooperation between Bangladesh and India in the areas of energy, power, infrastructure development and tourism , reports UNB.
Reiterating India's resolve to continue the full support to Bangladesh efforts for its socio-economic development, Modi also underscored the need for taking 'concrete steps' to promote bilateral trade and investment.
He made the remark when Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, now in New Delhi, met him at his office ahead of the third meeting of the India Bangladesh Joint Consultative Commission (JCC), said an official.
The crucial JCC meeting begins in the Indian capital city of New Delhi today (Saturday) with Dhaka expected to press Delhi afresh for settling all the pending issues at the earliest to make the existing 'deep' relations 'deeper and stronger.
The Indian Prime Minister expressed appreciation for Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's personal interest and commitment to the relationship.
During the meeting, Mahmood Ali recalled the historical, cultural and economic links between Bangladesh and India.
The Foreign Minister extended an invitation, on behalf of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina, to the Indian Prime Minister to visit Bangladesh.
The Indian Prime Minister said he looked forward to visiting Bangladesh at the earliest convenience.
Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali and his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj will co-chair the JCC meeting, the third of its kind, beginning in the morning.  
Bangladesh side, this time, expects a timeframe for resolving the two major pending issues - Land Boundary Agreement and Teesta Water sharing deal - to take forward the bilateral ties to a new height.
Mahmood Ali will have a one-to-one meeting with his Indian counterpart Sushma Swaraj at Jawahar Bhavan at 10:35am before the two sides sit for the JCC meeting at the same venue.
Indian President Pranab Mukherjee Friday laid emphasis on speedy implementation of decisions taken by Bangladesh and India to strengthen bilateral relations.
Bilateral relations between India and Bangladesh have grown and expanded in recent years and there is a need for speedy implementation of decisions, he said when Foreign Minister AH Mahmood Ali, now in New Delhi, met him at Rashtrapati Bhavan, according to an Indian official release.
