Jewellers seek adequate security during Eid vacation

The country's jewellers have expressed concern about security during Eid-ul -Azha holidays, as markets, shopping malls, all business establishments and jewellery shops will be closed for a long time following the religious festival.

Therefore, the Bangladesh Jeweller's Association (BAJUS) has requested the law enforcers to strengthen security at jewellery shops during the Eid holidays.

BAJUS, the apex body of jewellers in the country, sent a letter to Inspector General of Police Chowdhury Abdullah Al-Mamun on Wednesday seeking security, said a press release sent to the media by the association on Saturday.

Eid-ul-Azha will be celebrated in Bangladesh tomorrow (Monday).

According to the BAJUS letter, all the markets and shops in the country are closed due to the long Eid holiday. At this time, there is a high risk of various untoward incidents including theft, robbery. So, jewellery traders are concerned about the security of their business establishments.

"In such a situation, it is requested to take round-the-clock security and more surveillance measures in jewellery markets, shops and establishments all over the country during the Eid closure."
