JSC, JDC exams begin today

The Junior School Certificate (JSC) and the Junior Dakhil Certificate (JDC) examinations of class VIII will begin today (Thursday) for the first time in the country.
Some 1,520,731 students are going to sit for the examinations under all education boards including Madrasa Board.
Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid disclosed this at a press conference at Bangladesh Secretariat in the city Wednesday.
Nahid told journalists that among the examinees, a total of 1,248,078 students are under school boards and 272,653 students are under Madrasa Board.
He said Dhaka Board has the highest number of examinees totalling around 374,440 students and Sylhet Board has the lowest 72,500 students.
Nahid said the examinations would be considered public examinations like Secondary School Certificate (SSC) and Dakhil.
Results of the examinations would be published in the grading system, he added.
The examinations will be held in two shifts - morning session from 10:00 am to 1:00 pm and evening session from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm.
The JSC and the JDC examinations will conclude on November 14 and 15 respectively.
