Jul-Aug uprising fatalities revised up to 736

The health ministry on Sunday published a list of 736 people killed during the student-led anti-discrimination movement in July-August this year.
The ministry unveiled the updated draft list of the casualties on its website keeping it open for further revision.
Earlier on September 24, the ministry published the first draft list of 708 people killed in the protest saying that people related to or having knowledge about the victims will be eligible to further update or revise it till October 6.
The option for any revision or update remains accessible, said the health ministry in the latest update, adding that fresh input can be made following the guidance provided in the list.
The ministry collected the data from various public and private hospitals, according to the public circular.
The list remains accessible on the Ministry of Health and Family Welfare and Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) websites-www.hsd.gov.bd and www.dghs.gov.bd.
Family members, heirs, or representatives of the martyrs have been instructed to verify, correct, or complete the names, addresses, and other relevant information published in the list, the circular said.
The eligible public may submit opinions, suggestions, or any new data for the published list through designated hospitals or the nearest government hospital.
Meanwhile, a total of 105 children died in the student riots in July and August, Women and Children Affairs Adviser Sharmeen S Murshid said.
Each of their families will be given Tk50,000, she added.
The adviser said these while replying to questions from journalists at a press conference organised on the activities of the two ministries under her authority at the Secretariat on Sunday.
The adviser said, "It is finalised by the health department and we have taken the information from there. On World Children's Day, on October 7, we will give Tk50,000 and certificates to the families of every child killed. It is listed for children up to 18 years of age."
She also said that a total of Tk8.27 million had been provided to the students injured in the anti-discrimination movement through the Social Service Office and Upazila Patient Welfare Association.
The adviser said, "We are receiving US$ 5.0 million from the World Bank for the rehabilitation and treatment of the students, workers and mass people injured in the uprising. We are at the final stage of its formalities."
The adviser said, "There are 12 daycare centres under the Ministry of Women and Children Affairs. We demand a corner for every government institution for these daycare centres. For this we will send a letter to all government institutions."
"There is a target to open daycare centres in all government institutions by June 2026. We are going to bring day care service into the private sector, so that we can provide both income and service. Keeping our goal in mind, we are slowly moving towards it."
In another development, social media platform Facebook on Sunday posted that the Central Health Committee reports that 1,583 individuals have been declared shaheed (martyrs), with over 22,000 injured in the July Revolution Protest.
