Kamal seeks increased Saudi investments

Finance Minister AHM Mustafa Kamal has sought increased investments from the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia (KSA), saying that a more business-friendly environment now prevails in the country.
There are scopes for investing in sectors like power, renewable energy, telecom, pharmaceuticals, shipbuilding, and agro processing industry, he added.
The minister made the call when Saudi Ambassador in Dhaka Abdullah HM Al-Mutairi paid a courtesy call on him at his office in the capital on Monday, says a press release.
Mr Kamal said there are scopes for making a good profit by availing the attractive incentive packages offered by the Bangladesh government.
Bangladesh has attained over 7.0 per cent growth in the last ten years even as the world was facing economic recession, he said.
"We expect to attain 8.25 per cent growth in the next year," he added.
The minister also said Bangladesh has easily trainable manpower; small capital is enough to set up businesses; and products made in the country enjoy duty- and quota-free market access.
The Saudi envoy said a large number of people come to the kingdom every year for jobs and performing Hajj.
He informed the minister that a Saudi delegation led by the trade and investment minister and the planning minister will visit Dhaka on March 7 to discuss the issue of investment opportunity in Bangladesh.
