KERANIGANJ, Sept 25 (UNB): The four members of a family who were found dead at their residence in South Keraniganj on the outskirts of the capital Wednesday morning were identified on Thursday.
The victims are Saju Ahmed (35), his wife Ranju Begum, son Imran(6), and daughter Sanjida (2) of Kharija Banji village in Debiganj upazila of Panchagarh district.
Earlier, on Wednesday night, police detained three people-Sumon alias Sohel, Akkas and Khadiza Begum-from different areas of Keraniganj for interrogation.
Superintendent of Police of Dhaka district Habibur Rahman said the murder might have occurred following an altercation over drug trading and money sharing.
Informed, police recovered the bodies of the four people with their hands and legs tied up with ropes from the 1st floor of a six-storey building at Abdullahpur Kadampur Kalakandi in the morning and sent those to Mitford Hospital for autopsy, said Abu Bakar Siddique, officer-in-charge of South Keraniganj Police Station.
Miscreants might have strangled all the four victims to death 3-4 days ago and kept the door of the house locked from outside.
A team of Criminal Investigation Department (CID) collected some evidence from the spot.
