Former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia, now detained in a makeshift jail, denied the allegation that she had hands in awarding a contract to GATCO for container handling, reports UNB.
Talking to reporters at his New DOH house Wednesday, Hannan Shah said he had talks with Khaleda before her arrest and she straight away rejected her involvement in the matter.
Khaleda as Prime Minister neither approved nor disapproved the matter in which she was made an accused, Shah quoted her as saying. She said if there had been any irregularity in this matter, the ministry concerned would primarily look into it.
Hannan Shah who was also a former Minister said the government purchase committee carries out its function under a prescribed system and if there is any violation of any rule, the person concerned will be accountable.
Shah, advisor to the BNP chairperson, said as far as he is concerned the past purchase committee functioned in accordance with rules and regulations.
