Removed minister Abdul Latif Siddique, who was arrested for his anti-Islamic remarks, was taken to Bangabandhu Sheikh Mujib Medical University (BSMMU) from Dhaka Central Jail after he fell sick at the jail on Saturday, reports UNB.
Latif, who has been suffering from heart problems, complained of chest pain at the prison around 11am, senior jail super Forman Ali told the news agency.
He was taken to the BSMMU prison cell around 4pm as per doctors' advice following a check-up, Forman Ali added.
Earlier on November 25, a Dhaka court sent Abdul Latif Siddique to jail in a case filed for hurting the religious sentiments of Muslims through his disparaging remarks on Islam and Tablig Jamaat.
On October 1, advocate ANM Abed Raja, a former president of Dhaka Metropolitan Bar Association, filed the case against Latif with the Chief Metropolitan Magistrate's Court.
