Launch services at Sadarghat terminal suspended

Launch services remained suspended at the Sadarghat launch terminal in Dhaka on Saturday, considering the safety of people as the cyclone Mocha is approaching to hit the country today (Sunday).

Earlier, the Ministry of Shipping in a circular issued on Friday urged all the river vessels to refrain from operating.

Md Alamgir, joint director (river port) at Dhaka River Port Terminal in Sadarghat, told the FE that launch services at the terminal have remained suspended since 10:30 pm on Friday.

The launches will be allowed to operate if the situation improves, he said.

Meanwhile, a significant number of passengers suffered as they could not travel to their respective destinations following

suspension of launch services from the Sadarghat terminal.

A passenger, named Khalil Sikder, and his family came to the terminal to board a launch bound for a southern district.

While talking to the FE, he said, "As the launch services are suspended, we are going back to our house at Jatrabari."
