Leaders of the left-leaning parties on Monday held a meeting with BNP Acting Chairperson Tarique Rahman at the party's Gulshan office in the city.
During the meeting, they conveyed condolence on the death of former Prime Minister Khaleda Zia and discussed the country's overall political and law-and-order situation, as well as various issues related to the upcoming national election.
Among the leftist leaders, Zonayed Saki, chief coordinator of Ganosamhati Andolon, met with the BNP acting head along with some of his party high-ups.
They consoled Tarique Rahman on the recent demise of BNP Chairperson Begum Khaleda Zia.
After the meeting, Saki said that they came to the BNP party office to express their condolences.
"I heard about Tarique Rahman's future plan. I said that the state system should be created in line with the spirit of the 2024 mass uprising. It is the responsibility of the government to conduct the elections smoothly," he told the reporters.
Political parties will cooperate in the journey as national unity is needed to rebuild the country, he said.
Separately, Bazlur Rashid Firoz, the top leader of the alliance and coordinator of the Democratic United Front, also met with the BNP acting chief.
After the meeting, Bazlur Rashid Firoz said that a new situation and opportunity have been created in Bangladesh after the 2024 mass uprising to rebuild the country.
Tarique Rahman said that the government and the opposition wanted to rebuild Bangladesh together.
